Terms of Service

Adelaide Laser Engraving

We take pride in our high-quality craftsmanship, but laser engraving inherently carries some risks. By engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Customer Responsibilities

Material Suitability

  • You are responsible for ensuring that the item you supply is suitable for laser engraving.

  • We do not guarantee engraving quality on unsuitable materials. Please refer to our website or social media for examples of successfully engraved items.

2. Risk of Damage

  • Some materials, particularly unique or delicate items, may be prone to damage during the engraving process.

  • While we take every precaution to minimise risks, damage can occur.

  • In the event of damage, we may:

    • Offer a free re-engraving using alternative techniques or designs.

    • Discuss options to cover the affected area or suggest alternative solutions.

    • Where our negligence is proven, replace or compensate for the item as required under Australian Consumer Law.

  • We will not be liable for loss or damage resulting from circumstances beyond our control or where the item is deemed unsuitable for engraving.

3. Design Accuracy

  • You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of your design.

  • We are not liable for engraving errors resulting from customer-supplied designs.

  • Please review all design details thoroughly before submission.

4 . Engraving – Crystal and Specialty Glassware

While most glassware engraves cleanly, there’s a very small chance certain pieces won’t respond as expected. This usually comes down to how the glass is made.

Some premium glassware, like crystal or designer brands, may include extra ingredients such as metal oxides or surface coatings. These features aren’t visible but can affect how the laser interacts with the surface. When this happens, the engraving may appear patchy, inconsistent, or not engrave in certain areas.

Because this isn’t something that can be identified beforehand, we can only confirm suitability once the first engraving pass is complete. If we see that the result isn’t acceptable, we’ll stop before going further and let you know.

By proceeding with an order, you understand this small risk is part of the process when working with certain types of glass.

5. Intellectual Property

  • By submitting a design, you confirm that you either own the rights or have permission to use it.

  • We are not liable for any intellectual property disputes arising from customer-supplied content.

6. Service Limitations

Material and Design Limitations

  • We reserve the right to refuse to engrave materials deemed unsuitable or unsafe.

  • Some designs may not be achievable due to technical constraints or material properties. We will work with you to find a suitable solution.

  • A small setup fee may apply for designs requiring significant adjustment or customisation.

7. Colour, Finish, and Placement Accuracy

  • Variations in material and laser settings may result in slight differences in the final engraving appearance.

  • While we strive for precision, minor misalignments may occur due to manual placement and material properties.

  • With extremely small and/or polished items such as jewellery, there is very limited room for accuracy. We still aim for premium precision, but laser engraving often involves processes performed by hand and guided by the human eye. Therefore, absolute perfection cannot always be guaranteed.

  • If your expectation is 100% accuracy, please understand that we cannot ensure this due to the nature of the engraving process.

8. Limited Liability

  • Except as required under Australian Consumer Law, we are not liable for loss, damage, or other issues arising from the engraving process.

  • Our liability is strictly limited to the replacement or compensation of items where proven negligence on our part is established.

9. Acceptance of Terms

  • By submitting an item for engraving, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

10. Font Selection

  • Browse a curated font list on our website: Adelaide Laser Engraving Font List

  • Explore Dafont.com to preview your text and check character availability.

  • If you choose a custom font, please send a screenshot clearly indicating the exact version (e.g., Regular, Bold) to ensure accurate matching.

  • For fonts from other websites, email the font file (.ttf or .otf format only) to us for compatibility checking.

11. Design and Sizing

  • To avoid miscommunication, please provide a clear drawing or digital mock-up of your design.

  • If you do not specify sizing and placement, we will use our discretion to ensure the best visual result.

  • We recommend finalising the design before drop-off to minimise delays.

12. Proofs and Approval

  • Proofs are available on request after payment or item drop-off.

  • If you don’t request a proof, we proceed with the original confirmed design.

  • Standard proofs cover minor tweaks only, like small font size or spacing changes.

  • Major changes require a separate design/setup fee. Examples: new layout, different artwork, logo clean-up, multiple concepts, or re-proofing.

  • You choose fonts and supply the engraving design, wording, and placement notes. Provide vector logos (SVG/AI/PDF) or a high-res black logo on white.

  • Delayed responses may result in automatic approval of the latest proof by the stated deadline so your booking stays on schedule. Because your job is already set up and ready to go, we can’t hold it indefinitely — other jobs are queued behind it.

  • Once approved, any errors in text, placement, or size are your responsibility. Please double-check all details before finalising.

  • A design/setup fee covers proof creation, revision time, and scheduling the engraving separately from drop-off.

13. Drop-Off Information

  • All engraving tasks are performed personally by me. While I am around most of the time, there may be brief periods when I am at my other office, on-site jobs, or running errands.

  • To make drop-offs easy, we have a secure, monitored lockbox available for contactless drop-off and pick-up, 24/7. The access code will be provided on the day.

  • If you prefer a face-to-face drop-off, please contact me to arrange an appointment.

  • Most orders are completed within 1–2 days, but I strive for faster turnaround whenever possible.

14. Payment

  • Payment is due upon completion of your order.

  • Accepted payment methods: Bank Transfer, PayID, Cash, or Credit Card via Tap to Pay (1.95% fee applies).

15. Engraving Limitations

  • We can engrave most items; however, very large cylindrical objects or bowls may not be feasible.

  • Contact us if you are unsure whether your item is suitable.

16. Customer Engagement and Reviews

  • We appreciate your feedback! Tag us on social media or leave a review.

  • Each month, the best posted review will receive a special prize. Your feedback helps us improve our services.
